Purpose
Most of the sites listed on this page are educational games. Naturally, some are more educational than others, and of course, some are more interesting or more fun than others. Nevertheless, they will help you improve your skills and knowledge.
Students may access this page at home or in the computer lab at school. This should save students and parents the time of looking for the materials themselves and remembering and bookmarking website addresses themselves.
Some of the sites lend themselves more to research. These webpages will take students to pages about important topics that relevant to our required course study.
Additionally, parents will find a special section that pertains to family, parenting skills, etc. In this section, you will also find links to our classroom website and to the school district website, as well.
It is Mr. Hoggatt's intention to promote lifelong learning for students and parents - even outside the classroom.
Communication Arts, formerly known as Language Arts or English, is simply the intake and output of communication between individuals. Intake includes Reading and Listening. Output includes Writing and Speaking.
Math has grown from simple Arithmetic (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), to include more complicated skills such as Geometry and Algebra. Problem Solving is the key to advancing with all the skills that are required of students today.
Social Studies in our class really focuses on our state, as well as the interdependence of people and regions. A major underlying theme to the subject is how to treat and react to others, and how to grow as a citizen.
Some of the sites in this area are more fun than educational. They are meant to be breaks from the rigors of learning. Please do not dwell on them for long periods of time, as they are intended as merely brief diversions from what you are doing.
There are times when parents ask for resources with which to help their children. The following is a collection of links to do just that. More help is always available on our class website, as well.
